About Acupuncture

Traditional Acupuncture is an holistic medicine, meaning that each patient is treated as a unique individual.

Through the use of ultra fine sterile needles on specific energetic points, acupuncture helps to regulate the vital energy or Qi (pronounced chee) in the body, thereby helping to restore the body’s natural homeostatic balance.

In Chinese Medicine it is believed that pain and disease occur when the body’s Qi has been hindered.  This is due to mental, physical or emotional causes as well as injury and infection.  Through the use of needles the body’s Qi can begin to flow freely, thereby helping to restore and maintain the body’s equilibrium.

Recent MRI scans show that acupuncture triggers the brain to begin the healing process by calming the central nervous system, regulating hormones and releasing endorphins.
